Ashten's was first opened in 1997 by sisters Ashley and Quinten Van Camp. The concept was to be comfortable, yet elegant, like an old English manor. The original crest that hung over the front door, has a Lion and Unicorn fighting over a crown roast with knives and forks with, "not new things but in new ways" written in Latin.
This is what Ashtens is all about. Traditional, but with a twist. We love to take classics and put our own spin on it. We call it - Global Cuisine from a Southern Perspective.
Whenever and wherever possible, we utilize local ingredients brought to our back door daily by the various North Carolina Farmers. We feel it is important to showcase the farmers and all the hard work they do - besides, local just tastes better!
Ashten's serves it's a la carte menu Wednesday through Sunday nights.
Monthly, we host wine dinners with local food paired with wines of the world.
Fork to Farmer is an initiative of the NC Cooperative Extension and P1t Lab. It aims to entice the public to eat at local restaurants and visit the farms that supply them. This video highlights ostrich ranching at Misty Morning Ranch and their relationship with Ashten's Restaurant.
Ashley Van Camp is a Sandhills of North Carolina original. Chef, restauranteur, owner, lover of the arts and equestrian, she is a woman with a passion for life. From North Carolina, but schooled in Boston and former resident of New York City, Van Camp's heart and soul now reside in quiet, yet purposeful fabric of the Pinehurst and Southern Pines, NC scene.
